• had a lot of fun at swinley this afternoon

was the girlfriend's second ever go on a mountain bike, so we did the blue (intermediate run) as our first trail. it takes in the sticklers, whole nine yards and a couple of other bits of familiar trail.

everything has been very sanitised, and smoothed over, berms are very smooth, banking built up. we took it quite gently, but I was really impressed by Annie on the fatbike, she did not bail on anything and was really smooth in her bike handling. there were a few sections where I would have expected someone on their second only go offroading to have frozen up or stopped, instead she threw herself into it all.

we also did the green (beginners run) after we had finished the blue one. she complained it was not challenging enough. she actually much preferred riding at longleat forest two weeks ago, where the trails are much less refined, more rooty and technical.

the fat bike looks like so much fun, and am now wondering if anyone has one in stock apart from on-one

when my knee has recovered from surgery we aim to go back and do the red run to see what it is like
