  • Sorry that was in reply to someone earlier about over the counter stuff

  • That's just an iron supp.

  • Ay but the big word haemoglobin on the front made me think otherwise

  • If you're not already suffering from iron deficiency, iron supplementation is likely to do more harm than good.

The UCI has announced that Vacansoleil-DCM rider Nikita Novikov has been provisionally suspended after failing an out of competition anti-doping test for Hydroxy-ostarine/O Dephenyl-ostarine in a urine sample collected on 17th May 2013.

  • french magazine article comparing raw data from 21 riders. Green is clean, yellow suspicious, orange miraculous and red means they've had a dose of gamma radiation

Article if anyone fancies showing off their GCSE French

  • Virenque is just 'suspicious' and on the same level as Cadel and Brad? WTF Frenchies? WTF? He's a convicted fucking doper.

  • So is Christophe Moreau

  • Fuck, the French trolls got me. Abort abort abort.

  • If they just went by times, e.g. up l'Alpe D'Huez, Virenque probably wasn't good enough even if doped to be a clear-cut case. :)

  • Just saw on twitter:

    http://bicycling.com/blogs/theselection/2013/06/07/an-immodest-proposal-for-doping-closure/

Bill Strickland has invited all living TdF winners to a closed doors (no media...except himself of course) discussion to try and settle who doped, who didn't, who cares, who should be a 'winner' etc etc

Armstrong has agreed to do it.

    Looks like bollocks to me.

  • So the idea is to get a bunch of people together who have, largely, succeeded because of doping to pass judgment on doping?

  • Sounds legit

    "Living TdF winners"
Might of interest to resurect satistics of the average life expectancy of pro cyclists, compared to the general population.
Same discrepancies occur for Italian footballers, there are/were a few lawsuits of widows.
Anquetil interview on when doping wasn't illegal:

"You must be daft or a hypocrit to imagine a pro cyclist can cope 235 days a year without stimulants"
"I doped because everyone was doping"

  • Pierre Rolland getting busted for Cortisone ? Articles are only in french so far

  • http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://sport.be.msn.com/fr/cyclisme/article.html%3FArticle_ID%3D647445&prev=/search%3Fq%3DPierre%2BRolland%2BCortisone%26biw%3D1440%26bih%3D772

"According to L'Equipe, Pierre Rolland (Europcar) should not have to start from the last stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné following a collapse of its cortisol, which may mean taking performance-enhancing drugs."

"A rider whose cortisol has suddenly collapsed in principle rejected for health reasons, to protect him physically endangered by this biological fact. Taking still departure Pierre Rolland has violated the rules of the MPCC (Movement for a credible cycling), which joins his training Europcar.

More importantly, the collapse of the cortisol levels in a runner often means taking cortisone. Pierre Rolland Europcar team and they are in the eye of the cyclone 20 days of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France? Rolland why he started the race if his health was really in danger? The French abandoned after 20 kilometers of racing, officially for Achilles tendonitis.

According to L'Equipe, the "no start" was decided after forty samples taken Saturday morning on behalf of the French Cycling Federation (FFC), the National League and the MPCC, and the three presidents these entities were aware of the health status of Pierre Rolland.

Europcar has been recently investigated no further action possible use of perfusion recovery and consumption away from corticosteroids for performance. In 2012 already, the Four Days of Dunkirk, Anthony Charteau, also belonging to the Europcar team was unable to take the start of the fourth stage, due to an alarming blood test."

  • Any chance of a translation into English? :-)

  • "You must be daft or a haemocrit to imagine a pro cyclist can cope 235 days a year without stimulants"
    .

can't be arsed translating word for word but I didn't read it as a doping accusation, more a question as to why he was allowed to start if Europcar is in the MPCC and all the directors had known he was carrying a problem as it put his health at serious risk (alongside potential doping implications).

I fucking hope not anyway-Rolland was great at last year's TdF and it would be a pity to have this hanging over him or bar him from the race this year.

I'll shorten things a bit if you don't mind.
Rolland retired 20km after the start, due to a tendinitis...

The rider shouldn't have competed on the grounds of concerns for his health,
moreover his team is part of a new self regulatory body MPCC : Mouvement for a credible cyclism(guffaw),
which specifies that in those cases riders wouldn't start.
The team's doctor, head coach, and manager were all aware of this and still got him on the start.
His condition can be triggered by the use of corticoids.
His team was recently the subject of an enquiry about the alleged use of transfusions and corticoids.
    The case was dropped
Charteau in 2012, same team ,didn't start a 4 days race due to a freakish blood test result

  • can't be arsed translating word for word

Google already did that, I'm surprised the google machine couldn't make a better stab of then converting it into English. Perhaps the Equipe style guide is particularly resistant to machine translation.

  • Google translate seems to struggle with most forrins to be honest. Maybe a CIA subterfuge...

  • The rider shouldn't have competed on the grounds of concerns for his health,

This. It's not a doping positive. It's a "low cortisone" warning.

  • But a strong indication of doping
