There's 10 of them, no rush. Looks like someone found a cheap supply of Shimano hubbed discs and converted them with Surly Fixxer knock offs.
I'm probably gonna pick one up over the summer.

UK seller but yeah, probably chinese import. They've been doing hub converters for a while, guess they just fancied a bit of expansion

The other one was a corima though

Clincher and track? What did it go for?
-
• #78881
corima clincher, not track, 400

Clincher and shimano 400 BIN

Ah. Apparently Corimas have to be sent off to the manufacturer to be converted to track, it costs an arm and a leg and involved drilling holes in the carbon. I think Pro and Zipp are the only discs that can be converted to fixed easily, Pro with a Fixxer and Zipp by swapping out the axle.

Would you pay £320 for one of those you posted upsidedown?
-
• #78885
I'd definitely pay £320. It's heavier and probably a bit less stiff than decent brands but should do the job. Aluminium rim as well so no cracking bead hooks. Not sure how it would take skidding though. Can you buy one and test it for me plz?

ha... look how that worked out last time!
They say though "All of our disc wheels come with a full 1 year warranty and a no quibble return policy."...
hmmm

Think I'm going to have to rota fix my new wheels... bollocks...
-
• #78890
its disc wheel specific, this issue - hubs can unbond due to stress they were not designed to cope with.
Thought TM got first hand experience? -
• #78891
But if you're not skidding (i.e. fixed TT bike/dual brakes) then the stress presumably isn't any different to a normal disc?
-
• #78892
I think umop2pisdn rides with a front brake only.

If their scales are not Italian, it's 100g lighter than my Pro+Fixxer

I don't suppose he skids much on 53/14 :-)
