On the Pearson 150....
With regards to the other race and them fucking about with the signeage, I think it's pretty disgraceful. Of all people, you'd think they would understand how important it is for people to know where they're going! Wish I could remember which club it was that was organising it so I could send a slightly pointless snotty email.
And some truly ridiculous bikes out there. A guy I missed the turn with had wheels that were probably twice the cost of my whole set-up. He just sat on my wheel for about 5 miles, then I dropped him.... He was about 15 years older than me to be fair.

Cool, I'll be on a Burls with green bar tape. Won't be fast mind - I've only had commuting miles for a month now :|

3 lots of signs in the chilterns around Marlow/Henley yesterday. Sue Ryder, Chiltern 100 and a triathalon. Hope no-one got lost.
Fail to see why organisers have to use unpleasant A roads

Anyone want an entry into the Wiggle Steeple Chase Sportive next weekend? Afraid I have to work....
Its for the 90 mile epic and looks a fairly flat route.
Free to a good home! -

Thinking of doing the Maratona dles Dolomiti. Apparently entry is on a lottery system, so I'm wondering how that works if you want to go in a group. Anyone any experience of it?

Dolomites? Sounds bumpy.. take small gears.

Of the event itself or the lottery system?
The former yes, the latter no.

No to the lottery.
Yes to the ride, 2010. Entered through Cycling Weekly, they 'buy' a set of entries each year and sell them on to readers. You pay a little more but get a guaranteed (first come first served) entry and start ahead of the lottery winners. Details appear in the comic around August September time along with a write up of the previous year's event.

Don't suppose anyone here is doing the Dragon Ride this year are they?
I did it last year and am being talked into doing it again by a friend despite being about 200% less fit than I was a year ago...

Oh, and it is a fantastic ride with spectacular scenery.

OK, Cycling Weekly might be the way to go. Assuming it's just entry that you get, it's not a package deal?
thanks for the thoughts

Just entry, they do recomend places to stay and we stayed in a village full of CW entrants. It did mean the wags could sort out shared taxis later in the day to watch the heroic men arrive victoriously after proving ourselves in the mountains.
Afterwards we gathered at the local watering hold for a celebratory feast which went on well into the early evening before people started drifting off to bed because they were physically wrecked.

Did the Chiltern 100. Brilliantly organised again, and although it hurt, nowhere near as bad as last year. 1 hour 20 quicker, although it was about 5 miles shorter. Anyone else there?
-
• #2143
Not today but I have stolen their route and used it for winter miles. :)

I totally forgot about the Dragon ride, fucksticks.

I did this dude. Managed it in a few minutes quicker than last year, which i was pretty chuffed with (despite it being shorter) as I don't have as many miles in the legs this spring / summer. My official time wsa 6/30 i think, actual rolling time was about 6.15.
As you say, superb organiseation, and a lovely route. The last 30-odd miles are so punishing. Up down up down up down up down up down

Good going, I was 7.06 this time which shows you how much I struggled last year. And yes, the final third is a bitch, but I felt a lot better - last year I was actually swearing at the bottom of the last 3 hills as I couldn't believe they were sending us up more! A big feeling of satisfaction as I cruised past the point I got cramp last year :-)
Apart from the road surfaces not being great, roads open to cars and the usual couple of people riding like dicks, this is a great one to do.

Nope, last day for transfers was 21st April.
After finishing my 75 route, I overheard Willie P telling someone over the phone to give the other race's stewards a shoeing over sending Pearson riders the wrong way.
