This last paragraph is hilarious. We are talking about Formula 1 race car drivers here. Key word there being race. In a race, the fastest is the best and the best is the fastest. It is a race. There is simply no other way to dress it up.
The fact he needs the car so dialled in to his own 'style' of driving is proof he is poor at adapting. The fastest, and therefore best driver would do this easily and with little fuss. He's even admitted himself he needs to up his game. Rosberg is schooling him.....

You are wrong. It is pretty accepted that Lewis was still one of the fastest, even when driving the dog of a McLaren that he did last season. Its the same for Alonso, getting so much out of the atrocious Ferrari he had last year. It proved how fast Hamilton was, and how excellent Alonso was. The fastest is absolutely not the best. Ayrton Senna was the fastest of his era, but Prost, without the same pace, but brilliant tactical nous, still took a Championship that was Senna's to lose. One was faster, the other was better. Not the same.
