  • To be honest I don't think those roads have great reputations, and lots of the busy roads out to Canterbury usually get the thumbs down. You could very well have a good time but that would be a relatively grim way to get to Dover.

    I would suggest taking this route http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=295298 which Skive put together. It's a beautiful ride, but beware it's pretty bumpy. I would route it on RideWithGPS because then you can route yourself on nice roads and then print out a cribsheet. Viola! No Garmin required. You know, old school style. You'll see a lot more the countryside and still use a phone to check it's going ok. Also if you don't like the elevation profile of Skive's route just move it around the hills you don't fancy.
