  • A bike lane was removed from Jarvis. It's not the end of the world, but it's obviously not a inspired act and says a lot about the current administration (which you should read about if you want a laugh/scare).

    Cycling isn't too bad. Different from London - traffic is often much faster, there is less filtering (although much more last time I was there than when I lived there 10+ years ago), streetcar tracks are not ideal for cyclists for a few reasons (wheel getting stuck in them, slipping on them in the rain, not knowing where they are in the snow leading to wheel getting sucked/slipping- you will learn the techniques of holding your breath as you cross certain intersections less your breathing through you off balance).

    But! It's a pretty cycle friendly city overall. Especially in the core. I have a bunch of friends who are keen cyclists in Toronto, and was one myself, as a messenger and someone who commuted all through the winter. There are some great bike shops as well.

    They've also got a pretty good bike polo scene now, if that's something you'd be interested in.
