  • veLLo, please treat ol' Les to the track ends he has earned. I still miss the bugger.

little bird told me les is getting a mech hanger back on

~~"Track ends" / dropouts originally had a gear hanger that was chopped (as everybody knows here...). Something like this, kind of:

...except that they were much shorter in terms of adjustment possibilities, as it was often the case on TT bikes (the ones I've seen at least)~~

/\ /\ /\ irrelevant comment from me above... OP shows this perfectly sorry...

I am having the gear hanger re-brased, onto the original ends/dropouts, which will be unchanged.

Because the dropouts/ends are not replaced (which is good as the tubes don't get heated again), and because I have insisted that frame builder (Vaz's brother) wraps the frame in wet clothes during the brazing, the damage to the pink powercoated paint (which I intend to keep) should be minimum. Maybe a bit of touch-up will be necessary, but nothing major I hope...

This way the bike can be used with TT or fixed wheels, as originally intended.

I do not have a track wheelset I can use on this, so I will for now use a road wheelset I have (with a TT 5 speed block). Crankset with only one chainring (50 or 52T), single lever downtube shifter, centre pull mafac-like brake (the frame has braze on for centre pull, hence the choice...)

I'll see how it looks / rides, and take it from there...
