It's more about widening your search rather, decent alu frame can be as comfortable as steel, especially if you take care in choosing tyres size, pressure, saddle setback, reach etc.
Steel is much more readily available, especially steel road frame with horizontal dropout.
Ironically enough, the Dolan Precursa weight similar to a steel frame.
