  • Considering it was in a private office, up 2 flights of stairs and next to the office door, just a cable round the top tube into a d-lock.. I cam out the same minute according to the CCTV.

    Here he is...

I edited the bit in between but he was in and out in about 1.30..

  • Wow that was swift. Sorry to hear about this. You can never be too careful, clearly.

  • If I see the bike I would just be glad to see it back in your hands and this criminal behind bars!!! I really hope the Police get some act together! Really gutted for you!

I'll post some more photos of him so spam away, and don't forget there's £500+ all the beer you can drink, if I get the bike back and or the guy.

  • Best of luck in getting it back

  • What did you lock it up with Stars?

  • what a total cnut.

  • seems that guy knew what he is doing.
he knew that the bike was there.

  • shit man, sorry to hear that..
how did he know the bike was up there in 2nd floor? seems like an inside job... or maybe they've been watching you for a while now with the bike..
hope you get to recover it..

  • Sorry to hear about this. I will keep 'em peeled and let Police/You know if I see/hear anything.

  • What did you lock it up with Stars?

    A cable lock :(

  • Seems like he might be a "friend" of someone you work with/near... otherwise the speed and preparedness is too good.

    People are shitty :(

  • gutting.

got anyone that can zoom in/clean up the CCTV pics? They're a bit grainy to be of much use atm, not that it's really much use unless the fucker gets pinched anyway.

hope you have some success, will keep my eyes open.

  • Total brazen cunt hope he gets caught ...... hope you get your bike back too , it is very distinctive ... i'll keep a look out on gumtree ebay free adds ect ect.......

  • bastard! good luck finding! mine bike was stole inside my house and i found it at a nearby pawn shop a couple of months later..

Sorry to hear about this, I'll keep both peepers open.

  • One of mine showed up in a cash converters... Police seized it back no problem.
Might be worth a look if you have one local

  • Police just phoned. They've spoken to the eBay guy who has told them he gets his gear from a woman at a velodrome when they've finished with it so they have closed the investigation.

He never mentions this on any of his auctions, he always states that he bought parts and they either don't fit his or his wife's bike or that he's bought new ones. Also why has he removed all of his items?

My wheels were geared, would not be used at a velodrome. Deeply disappointed with the police's lack of investigation.

  • don't give up

  • Kat, that wasn't the Cycle Task Force, was it? They're all bike nerds and I wouldn't imagine that they'd fall for such an obvious lie. They might be interested if it's a high-volume seller. Perhaps drop them a line with some information and the crime number that you may have got from police? Contact details here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread52193.html

(Or, could you get back to the police you were dealing with to explain their mistake to them? It might give them renewed grounds for suspicion.)

  • Can I go about nicking car parts to sell on eBay because I've said I'm legit I get them from the folks down the race track when they've finished with them.

It wouldn't be hard for them to ring the few velodromes in the country to check the story out.
It was the burglary team at brixton. Cycle task force have so far ignored me.

  • Well, they probably haven't ignored you, but been too busy with other cases--we're still at the stage where the caseload is overwhelming for the very few officers assigned. It just seems to me that with this new information it's got a little more interesting.

  • Busting the odd BL seller...? they are there every week.,..same people...same dodgy shit...I'm not even talking direct action...we go down...we buy the bianchi at 50...we then give it back to the rightful owner...who would probs be very happy to give £50 to get it back...

the police are doing very little that actually looks constructive...
I'm not talking 'one bobby' I'm talking the 'cycle task force'...thats 12...can anyone else name a bigger bike theft hotspot in the whole of the City?...nope...didn't think so...

Pia, it is unfortunately one of those cases of 'if it was so easy, it would have been done before'. Firstly, what was observed in the past when the police did quite a lot of work on Brick Lane Market was displacement and other markets and other cities got more trade in stolen bikes. (That work was unfortunately not continued for long as the individual officers and some members of the community who helped moved away.) Secondly, it is actually quite hard to go after these people and bring charges that will stick. I've had this explained to me at some length. I can't say I remember it all, but I know that a number of successful cases have already been brought and more will come.

I don't want to excuse inaction in any way, but I know it's a very knotty problem. If you have info, make sure you share it with the CTF. They're not only going after individual cases, but are also building up an intelligence background.

  • I can appreciate that they are busy. I've whipped off another email. There has been a spate of bike thefts in my area recently. Would be good to find out where they are all going to.

  • Well done. I hope you hear something back!
