Can't speak for the disc hubs, but Novatec hubs are generally well made, solid and reliable. Hope are probably better, and have a louder freewheel, if you like that sort of thing - but it's a question of What-you-need vs Vanity. I've never been able to justify spending another 100 quid (especially considering that could be 40% of the total wheelset cost anyway) for the type of wheels I've had handbuilt (commute/winter).
