  • Yes. Expert opinion suggests that final hill is too tough for Cavendish, which means he'll probably win.

    Go Cav go!

I must say he has impressed me this Giro. There were whispers he was slowing down, there's a host of young pretenders and a few old stagers looking to usurp him and here he's proved yet again he is the absolute class of the field. More than that he proves yet again he can win without a train and get over some lumpy stuff.

His stage 13 win, if you look at the totality of it, might be his best of his career. Longest stage of the Giro and after 250k some serious lumps thrown it. His team burnt themselves out chasing the break and left him isolated on the climbs at the end. Sheer force of will got him over them, as far as I can work out, and he was able to hunt down some late breaks and still smash the lot of them at the end. Massive chapeau to Cav, hope he somehow manages to hold onto red. The fact Cadel is in the hunt for pink may play in his favour, as Astana aren't going to let Cadel get the top spots on a stage and time bonuses they bring.
