  • You're old enough fuck, marry, and drive a car, so do it.... better to regret the things you do than the things you didn't do.

You can always get it lasered-off if your faith or aesthetic taste change.

    /2p

I'd also say do what you like,
but honestly, I would maybe have a chat with a couple of guys that had huge tattoos at that age beforehand,
like people you'd look up to, obviously, and hear their story about it.
It is kind of a big step, and lazer is expensive and hurts like shit I've been told..

  • You should wait till you're fourty. This way you don't need to redo them before retirement.

  • People should treat tattoos as permanent, it's becoming increasingly common for people to comment about laser removal as though it's perfect. It really isn't, it won't work on certain skin types, with some pigments or over scarred or blown out ink.

  • Ill never laser anything

  • No, but your tattoo might:

That's why to think twice about Jesus tattoos (Kev take note)

  • lol

  • I'm amazed at some of the attitudes here. Getting tattooed is probably one of the most personal things so there's going to be a lot of variation in what people go for in terms of style and personal preference. That's sort of been the tacit understanding of this thread.

I'm not sure when it became OK to take issue with someone for their own personal aesthetic or for their choice in artwork. Since when did someone need to have others come on here to "vouch" for someone?

OK. Christianity isn't for you, so what? There's lots of stuff on here that's also not for everyone. HTFU.

More respect, less judgement. For fuck's sake, this had been, until recently, one of the few threads left on the forum where that was the case.

Dakin - do your own thing.

  • I'm not even slightly religious, but I'd still rather have a tat of Jesus, one of the most influential and important 'characters' of all history, than say a dagger, triangle or a fucking frog smoking a cigarette.

  • ^ +1, make me feel like a Hispanic gangster. Before laser there was the art of cover up tattoos, I have a friend who had Jesus on the cross done on the centre of his chest when he was 16. It was errrr rough shall we say so at the the ripe old age of 22 he had a large ship piece done over the top to cover it up.

Now at the age of 25 Jesus has resurrected and is poking out of the ship as a ghostly apparition. He said "if that's what Jesus wants...."

    Csb etc

I've had tattoos all my adult life, half my life in fact, regret them a bit but frankly there's more to worry about in this world than a bit of ink. Still glad I didn't get me hands done though, it'll take another generation for that stigma to pass I feel.

  • Calm down Aaroogah, basically everybody said 'do what you want',
the rest was calmly suggesting not to hurry anything.
I think that's ok to weigh in on somebody who's eighteen.

  • More respect, less judgement

  • Faith has no Age requirement...

Hope whomever is getting the religious ink has been Baptized at least

kinda look odd i would think if not.

  • Another vintageretrohipster studio has opened up on Kingsland Rd under the bridge. Can't find a website anyone know a thing about whose working there?

  • More respect, less judgement

..say it one more time and I will start to believe we were really judging him.

    Shut up

I wasn't suggesting you would, it's become a standard chant for all of the people who into all of the "humorous" animal tattoos that I don't understand.

Body Modification of all forms should largely be viewed as permanent even though some people have had luck reversing major pieces/mods it doesn't mean everyone will have the same results.

Aroogah has it right, do your own thing for you and respect other peoples choices to do whatever they want to theirs. The whole fucking point is to make your body your own, you can't do that if you're trying to please other people.

    #mostofthisisntwaimedatyou

  • Totally with Aroogah here. Haters gonna hate doe >>>>>>tina>>>>>>>>>

  • Your call.

I can't fault you for being a top lad so why should I question your beliefs or your desire to display them on your body.

Keep to what you believe in Joss.

I'd also say do what you like

...fuck - still I got the feeling we were being judgemental all of a sudden!

  • but honestly, I would maybe have a chat with a couple of guys that had huge tattoos at that age beforehand,

Think you forgot to quote the rest of what you said...

  • It's not hating, it's about making an thought through decision, that's all.

  • I'd also say do what you like,

this isn't judgemental in any way, especially compared to the wisdom that dublinkevin had to offer. everyone chill the fuck out!

  • I've got 12 tattoos now, but I'm still admittedly prejudiced against people I see with tattoos of Christ on them. I instantly think they're probably a religious nutcase...

TBH I associate Jesus tattoos with rappers and Latino gangsters more than religious zealots... (in fact it was Mr Cartoon's work that made me start thinking about a proper tattoo, rather than a Chinese character or tribal symbols).

I've always thought if you have an artistically sound and well done tattoo, then regardless of whether or not you get bored of it or your opinions change you can at least appreciate it. That's obviously all IMO.

    I lol'd.
