Nah man, no pussy for having brakes.
I have one on one of my bikes as do many people, some even have two.
-
• #178
Front brake will mean no barspins....
Which is pointless for freestyle.
Back brake would work, but not really much point really -
• #179
I didn't know he meant fgfs, thought he was just looking for a tough bike.
You can do front brakes and bars spins though, clever cable routing and a disc.

thats a hel of a lot of effort though and money
-
• #181
Yeah man. Serious! Want to see a picture of it built up?
ratio looks ridic spinny.. why would you do that
-
• #182
It aint too bad. 28x12. I think i will be upgrading the rear hub to a Machete at some point though.

Hi all
Building my first fixie. Bought a charge scissor frame and looking at identiti rebate forks to keep the weight down as the are cro-mo opposed to the charge scissor forks.. You said they need adapters? Or could you recommend some other forks?
Any thoughts welcome..
Cheers

yeah just 10mm to 14mm adapters
-
• #185

Anyone be able to help me decide between a Specialized P.fix 2013 and the Bombtrack Dash ? I've been saving up for quite some time now and I just can't decide which one to pick ! If anyone can give me some helpful information that will be great.

• #187
I'm just going to be buying one of these two bikes as my starting base which I will then build onto and change around parts when I have enough to replace them by the way.

Ahh sick man, Ill be picking that up then by the end of the month ! Is it possible to have it LHD or not ?
-
• #192
Yeah yeah. Just flip the wheel and cranks init
-
• #193
Hey guys, do you reckon it's cheaper to buy a rear 26" fixed wheel, or just get one built? Can't seem to find any cheapish online
-
• #194
Building a wheel is never really cheaper, unless you get everything at trade/wholesale prices.

Hey Guys - just browsing this thread as I'm lookin' to build be FGFS.have a '95 Orange P7 that I did LETJOG on a few years ago. It's been ticked away for years but I'm hoping to convert to fixie. Anyone have any views on whether I should chop the semi-vert dropouts to track? 26" or 700c wheels.

if you have semi veritcal drop out, don't bother doing anything, and add the Surly Fixxer to your rear wheel.
-
• #197
^ what he said.
-
• #198
what do people think about the state bicycle co. trick bike?
-
• #199
Obviously not the best, but would be a good building block. As ya break stuff, replace it for different bits. I started off with a Subrosa Malum

ive just bought a subroa malum fixie, needs a brake but no idea which one to get? apparently need a 69 cm long drop or something!
