I guess that could be it, thanks, it is supposed to be from 1974, so does that fit?

Riding dik is fantastic, but it can be a bit hard at times as it's quite different to what I'm used to being on top of.
It's just practice really, keep on riding it and don't forget to keep things lubed.
Your dik is too small for me to put dibs on.
I don't know how big his dik is but judging by his height it's probably too big for me to ride comfortably.
It is pleasing to look at though.

Just building a witcomb frame ( I live in Deptford so it's a bit of a homecoming for the frame) going to put a campagnolo groupset on it and get Ashley at Brockley bikes to stretch rear drops out 10mm to allow for a modern groupset. He's done this for me before with no problems. Much easier than scrabbling around trying to get vintage parts. I'm not interested in having a clunky vintage setup that I never use.
Anyway was wondering if anyone knew what this weld was for under the rear seatpost?
That looks very much like a brazed-on centre pull bridge based on the shimano centre pull quick release system:

going to put a campagnolo groupset on it
What bothered me (only a little) when I refurbished my Witcomb, is that I could not have a full campag groupset because of the centre pull brakes (I did not want to shave off the centre pull bridge), and Campagnolo never made centre pull... (delta qualifies as centre pull? even if they do they don't need a bridge...)
So apparently what was common (I was told) at the centre pull times, was to have a campag groupset with a weinman or mafac set of brakes. I'd agree with Ed on Mafac being nicer. Although Weinman did real nice drilled levers...
In the case of your bridge, if you keep it working with a shimano quick release (assuming shimano only was doing it), you have to mix shimano and campag, which I ended up doing at the end... -

Or a full Dura Ace groupset with DA centerpull.

Or one of these with a washer or two?

Just picked up this Raleigh Elan on Ebay for £90 as a cheap run about / pub bike. Think it's dates to around 1990 - 1992. Reynolds 501 tubing, mostly Shimano Exage / 105 components, and Mavic Open 4CD anodized rims.
The Vittoria tyres and tubes need replacing, as does the bar tape and hoods, but considering it's 20 years old, it's in pretty good condition. Not sure whether to change the bar tape colour and saddle. Any opinions on suitable replacements welcome...
Also, recommendations on decent gum wall tyres would be appreciated. Cheers.

That actually look well specced despite being a run-of-the-mill frame.
Panaracer Pasela in 25c (or 28c).

Cheers for the tyre recommendation. To be fair, it doesn't weigh too much, and although i've had a quick search on the web, I can't find any details regarding the original spec of the bike. I suspect the wheels have been upgraded though. It has some nice touches too, like the cable routing through the frame and fluted seat post. Also, it has elliptical shaped Biopace chain rings, which I guess were a fad at the time to improve efficiency??

Pretty much, but it doesn't hindrance you either
£90 that's a steal, the previous owner really did look after it and (possibly) changed the spec for a decent one.
