^ Some truth in this. To me the raddest bieks to be featured in this thread are often the most unique - this could be through eccentric tastes (borderline anti), obscure/rare components or heavy patina. Some evidence that they may get properly ridden will usually enhance their appeal in my eyes.....
Here's a couple of my favourites showing patina, obscurity and eccentricity....
If you could go on Wiggle or drop into BLB and have the bike on the road by Friday it'll probably look just a little bit dull.
