Can't remember cost exactly as they re-cut bottom bracket thread at the same time, but from what I remember armoutex charged about £35 for the clean and clear coat last time.
Think how well it works depends on the frame material/quality - mine were 531, so your frame should be fine if its 853. Pretty pleased with the quality and durability of it though
