  • Heavy head?

  • Likewise I do a fair amount of core stability work, the magnets theory is probably the best we have so far.

    That or my enormous head.

Physical oddities aside, I suspect it's me unconsciously moving into the position I am familiar with, or that works best for me- why I switched from a layback post to an inline one.

Which is not an issue generally, but the TMR01 has a proprietory post, I think you can run it inline but it might look a bit odd.

Also, I'd need a 150mm stem on that 56 to make an inline post work.

  • Then you'd look like a real pro though dammit

  • I'd suggest not as I would be clearly visible on the bike

  • 150mm stem? Useful for anchoring your boat I guess

  • Bike fit thread >>>

  • How was it though? They're beautiful.

  • Bike fit thread >>>

This is lfgss my friend - every thread is a bike fit thread

  • Every bike is a fit bike thread.

    Form >>> Function

  • Says the man about to spooge loadsa money on some fancy shit :D
(The fact that you're one of the only people here able to justify it is beside the point!)

  • You getting the shiv? And Heds? @hippster.

  • Has anyone had any experience with the Moda Bolero? Still torn between the Ribble Winter/Audax and something that looks a little racier such as the Bolero...

  • You getting the shiv? And Heds? @hippster.

Probably the tri version as the higher head tube suits my position much better. I already have Zipps. I may spunk for an 808FC on the front though.

  • sizer, why don't you test ride it? the beauty of the Moda is that you can test it from Evans.

I meant this forum is form >>> function. I, of course, abhor anything good looking. I mean, just look at me! :)

I need to ride a larger one, the issues with the fit, honking brakes and unavailability of the lower half of the cassette plus the howling gale I was riding in all coloured my impression of it I suspect.

It was very stiff under power, and generally nicely neutral in terms of handling (at the speeds I attained around Regents Park), but there was nothing that made an impression on me as being better than my System Six.

I quite liked the braking performance (apart from the honking)- that stuck out, but I suspect a lot of that came from the alloy braking surface rather than the mini-V brakes.

A better test for it will come with the 58cm in some calmer weather- what I am interested in is whether there will be a noticable function of the aero tube shaping as there is with swapping from (say) Open Pro's to 404's.

  • Yes, I will most certainly spend this weekend test riding some bikes, including a Moda! It’s unfortunate that the Ribble HQ is all the way in Preston though

You won't notice any difference - the stopwatch might though, over 25 miles....

    ah yes.. I agree :)

Do they have Strava segments that long?

  • LOLage.

  • Well, obviously people who don't race cannot be taken seriously, and moreover non-racers have no right to ride anything but a £150 BSO from Decathlon.

Good job the constant snide jibes about that don't get boring.

Anyway- BMC are claiming a 28 watt saving (into a headwind of 50Km/h), which if it translates to a similar saving whilst travelling at 30mph would be very noticable out on the road.

My main reason for testing this bike is because I wanted to see if the game had moved on in the six years since my Cannondale was "current thinking", hence choosing the TMR01 as it's pretty much at the leading edge of the aerodynamic roadbike.

If I (as a leisure cyclist*) cannot tell the difference then there is no point, but as I mentioned earlier, I can certainly tell the difference with the wheels, so I would be interested to see if I can feel the difference from the frame.

    *Burn him!

  • I think you'll find the UCI mandated BSO limit for Cat 5s is £99.

  • 28watt saving against what? A semi-trailer?

Everyone knows the Venge and S5s are the leading edge of aero road bikes. Everything else >>> trailing edge.

  • The jibe wasn't meant to be snide, just gentle joshing.
