Hey everyone. Recently joined and interested on your thoughts re: drops v flats. Some say its just a fashion thing, others insist that drops are dangerous in traffic. Opinions?

Hi guys (& girls)
24hrs and 3 posts eh! Thats a new one on me. So I've been reading a lot of stuff for a few days now. Just laid my hands on a bike I'm looking to convert to a SS/FG. I'm airing on the side of FG at present, but never ridden one before so will be the guy you see on his backside at the end of every street for a while probably.
Don't want to spank to much money on this bike for the above mentioned reason so it's gonna be a real project on a budget (which I'm sure your all sick of hearing).
Will probably be asking some stupid questions so bear with me. But accutely aware there are a lot of members here, a wealth of knowledge and most importantly a search button so will try to keep the stupid stuff to a minimum.
Cheers
Steve

Hey Dude.Welcome!
Quick one, please take it to your local bike shop or Cycle Surgery/Evans for a once over.
Create have had some issues in the past that may or may not have been addressed. (experience speaking)
Or if you like, swing passed one of our drinks and ask someone to do a quick tightening bolts and such (still should have a professional look see though).

WelcomeBuy a single speed with a flip flop hub. It allows you to change from free wheel to fg just by turning it around. It will let you have the best of both worlds.

Thanks a lot for the reply, yeah it would be great to meet up for a drink one evening if I get round to it.
I have checked everything and most seems ok but I'm no pro. Only problem I have got at the moment is the chain near the back cog rubs the bar closest to it, looks like it needs to move over ever so slightly, how would I go about this?
Any help?
Cheers, Jack -
