  • I can't help but feel like they're going to fob me off. Would it be a big job for a lbs to move the bb a mm or so? There is loads of clearance on the drive side

Stronglight JP 400 JIS Bottom Bracket / 107mm / BSA Thread / Aluminium Cups

    Stronglight Track 2000 Crankset / 170 mm / Black Chainring / 48t

  • Thanks for that, certainly seems like my seatpost is going to be on the very limit.

I've emailed On-One about the hanger and they told me that the frames don't have one. Plenty of photos suggest otherwise though.

Surprise surprise, my frame came with a hanger. In follow up emails I've been informed (as I suspected) that just the small frame comes with the hanger.

  • Ride it and see if it goes ting

    Ting ting, fares please.

It's a five minute job* once you've located the necessary negative shim to put under the drive side cup.

    *i.e. it should cost £20

On-one doesn't seem to know their bikes very well then :p Had (dremeled it off) hanger in mine, which is M size. Also, a friend has L frame, which also has one.

E: oh rite, we both have older models, so that could be it...

  • The hanger is fitted to all the frames except the small.

  • I have an M. It has the hanger. So I believe Dtroll has it right.

  • Sorry, that's what I meant to say: just the small comes without the hanger.

  • Finished my Pomp today. Here's pics and bike info: http://www.pedalroom.com/bike/on-one-pompino-2012-11211

Is £20 the cost of a new bb and fitting it?

  • Unfortunately I think I'm gonna have to let my beloved Pomp go. Don't know if anyone here would be interested?

  • Nice build. What size frame?

  • Is £20 the cost of a new bb and fitting it?

    ask Jeez

  • ask Jeez

Don't do this, he'll answer your question but also give you the answer to a question you didn't ask and charge you for both.

  • Nice build. What size frame?

    Cheers, it's a large.

  • Got to say, that is some nice stay bending on the mudguards, makes mine look really hamfisted

  • i thought i would have to fix the noodle in place somehow but the tension from the gear cable means that it doesn't move at all, even in the slackest gear.

^^^^^^^ there's not much I could find online about resizing internal hubs, but my understanding is you can only do it effectively with roller brake hubs, like this, not disc, which i'm guessing your alfine would be. taking off the roller brake (or removing the bolt that sits in its place) takes away a big deal, bringing it does to around 126mm. From there you only have to swap the non-drive-side lock nut for one of the thinner ones that are standard on shimano rear hubs. This makes it 122-3mm which easily fits without cold setting. Of course the dish and chain-line gets messed up with all this but i've compensated with an extra short bb.

Kevin you're right about the ratios. at the moment i've got 32/16 which makes the lowest gear at 28.5gi completely useless. I want to change to a 36t ring up front which would give me a top gear of 98.1. At the moment i'm riding on the flat in 6th and 7th, so it would be good to bring this further into the middle.

Been planning to build up an internal gear hub wheel for touring on my Pompino for ages.

Is the approach below similiar to what you did?

    1. Source Alfine roller brake hub (rather than disk brake hub or no brake hub)

    2. Remove roller brake parts

    3. Swap non-drive side lock nut for standard shimano one like the one below:

  • My pomp in cargo mode, still handling well when towing 10kg+ on the trailer!

  • The nature boy forks really do look the business on a pomp.

  • great bike, great pic

  • g8. What are the tyres and what size are they?

  • Thanks guys, the tyres are racing ralph 32c got them cheap on crc a while ago. Quite like the nature boy fork, little bit of toe overlap with big tyres and mudguards though!

  • Where's your baby blue pomp shane?

  • Slowly updating my Pompino.

    Truvativ Elita cranks
    Thomson Elite seatpost
    black bar tape )
and Now I'm using bike for daily commute duties, but will try some XC action in june )

  • The blue one is my polo bike but the rear triangle is out of alignment so it's getting retired as soon as I finish hija.

    Woodz are those mini-v's?

  • Hi-
I just joined the forum. I've never owned a Pompino, but I'm intrigued by the price of the frames and the enthusiastic support on this site. I like how you set up your bike. How much $ are you looking for? Where are you located?

    thanks-
