The Craft pub in Brighton are doing 'Bottle Monday' where they open one of the expensive large bottles of beer. I don't know if the London pubs are doing it but it seems a good idea.
Anyway, I went to the Brighton one last night.
Lovely, a nice dark chocolate taste. It would go very nicely with game.
Then I saw this, a specially brewed Evil Twin for Craft, and though of you lot! ;-)
Slightly fizzy with a intense flavor of hops and grapefruit. Very nice indeed.

Brains stout gets a meh from me, I find it pretty bland. Tried dark star 'Six hop' the other day. Pretty strong at 6.5% and fucking astonishing. Tried their 'Original' as well, ace.
+1 for this, good stuff

Tried some of Sharp's new Ice Ale yesterday at the Charles Lamb near Angel. DELICIOUS. A bit too smooth and drinkable, I could have quaffed pint after pint. Very "Spring/Summer/beer garden friendly"

Kernel 1890 export stout & Roosters Londinium coffee porter today. V.nice as it's still wintertime oop north, nearly time to switch to light summer ales and cider though.

Well, the tasting session was enjoyable. Some good ales were drunk. Particulary the Lambic cherry krieg!
I also found out that 90% of the hops grown in the world are used in the pharmaceutical industry rather than for brewing. They apparently have the highest natural concentration of anti-oxidents of any plant!
See? Beer is good for you!

Then I had some of these...
And I didn't even have a hangover this morning. Win!

Apparently the London's Brewing festival was a bit shambolic today. Loads of talk on twitter saying they couldn't cope with the volume of punters leading to long queues and people eventually wanting refunds etc. They are apparently building an extra bar tonight, so fingers crossed it won't be carnage when I get there for the afternoon session tomorrow.

So the London's Brewing festival wasn't too bad today. Some nice beers and not too long queues even though it was rammed. Sadly there were no talks/tastings which were promised, and towards the end of the afternoon session they'd run out of any pale/hoppy/light beers, only left with porters and the like. I spoke later this evening with some local brewers who had their beers there, and they weren't very happy. I heard that some head brewers had traveled a long way to give tastings/talks but couldn't due to lack of organisation. But hey, I had a nice time none the less, and tasted some good beers. Let's hope the next one is better organised.

So I goes to try and start off a batch of stout (is homebrew chat allowed in here)... but I can only find wine yeast.

Visit a baker?
Boots chemist?
My local always have their Danish Dynamite on tap. I'll try and persuade them to get some green beer in now it's spring.
