What road bike is king when it comes to second hand value for money when purchasing?
i.e. if you want the maximum bang for your buck, what to look for- my thought was Specialized Allez for ~£250-£300?
Best value is whatever comes along at the right price in your size. There is never going to be a specific bike which is the best value second hand! Depends who is selling it.

Can you show us a picture of your chain line? I'd hazard a guess that it's horribly out as you are using the outer of a triple...
Might not be, but that's my guess.

Decalthon B twin road bike with full Sora and carbon fork for £300 new, therefore second hand value will be even less, saw one for £150 a couple weeks ago.

10pm? Well lit scenery then?

So you are saying that it's impossible to ascribe an average value to second hand goods?

Are the Kensington Roof Gardens still there for general use?

No: fiddy dorrah.
Actually, those B'Twin are storming value.

So you are saying that it's impossible to ascribe an average value to second hand goods?
No, he's saying that the average is meaningless unless you are buying hundreds of them, because individual sales are not tightly clustered around the mean.
-
• #45065
But if one uses a large, online marketplace and places bids around the mean then at some point that strategy is going to work, is it not?
Anyway, that'd be boring- what I think to be true is that it is possible to say "[bike x] is pretty good, and usually goes for [amount y] or thereabouts in good condition, therefore I'd look for one of them".

Surprising good answer considering the bullshit you're spouting in the memes thread. I'd rep you for this, but then I'd have to nerg you for the other :-)

It will work in the sense that you'll eventually win one, but that won't necessarily be the best value.

Then what do they (tightly or not) cluster around?

The median :-)

That seems unlikely.

Well the London Eye would have been my first choice but it shuts at half nine.
The Shard is also closed then.
Erm, walk in the park?
To be honest I'd take them to dinner, get an early night and then go and have a look at London the next morning.

There's Dammit's way, or a trick with a bit of cable and a biro spring, or a wrap of self-amalgamating silicone tape over the top of the lever and lever body, i.e. a posh rubber band. A short length of old inner tube would probably be just as good.
Delayed response. Thanks for the suggestions. Went with the biro spring trick in the end. Works a treat, although did require a fair bit of faffing.

Hi there,
I have a friend who will be coming to London for the first time. I will be meeting her in Kensington area at 10pm next week. Where should I take her at that time that is not too far from there and would take in some scenery?
what day of the week?

My fingers got really cold this morning while on my motorbike (so probably some vibration too) and while they have mostly recovered, the tip of my left middle finger is still a bit numb.
Should I be worried?
Peak coldness was probably at around 8/815am this morning. I changed to warmer gloves but was out/riding till about 3pm.
