I followed the promenade path from Dirty Duck it does seem to turn pedestrian only after a while, near Cultra direction.
Got help up last Sunday due to OU maths homework...the joys. Hopefully no such thing this Sunday! Anybody going anywhere for May Day?
-
• #228
From what I've heard you can take the path right round to Bangor but the path gets a bit mental in places
Think I've a birthday to go to on mayday but should be able to make a run out on Sunday if anyone fancies it

Sunday is good for me. Well, any day is good for me, but i prefer Sunday rides!
Does anyone happen to have a spare 18T track cog for sale or that they wouldn't mind lending me? Going to try this whole spinning lark!

I've a 16 but that probably not much use to you
Speaking of looking for stuff. I'm looking for cranks if anyone has anything floating about. A single 42 - 48 tooth or an old double to convert

So may be 1300 Big Fish again this Sunday, but out a bit further?
Still up **** creek with homework. Sigh. Hope I can make it.
I want a mini-me and world domination once done in 3 year for my troubles ;)
-
• #232
Sounds like a plan
Both the mini me and meet on Sunday

Ahh I have several 16's. Thanks though!
What is the crank for? A good bike or a beater? Ill check the parts box tomorrow!
JWestland your bound to have time for a wee spin... c'mon!

Was just looking to replace the existing cranks. Decided to just replace the whole drivetrain. Got in touch with velo cafe magasin and gonna pick up the bits and pieces from them. Cheers for the offer though
Got a few friends interested so there should be more than 3 this week
Anyone else heard of the ride planned for end of may going from Albert clock at 6 on the last Friday? Don't know if its critical mass or what. Saw it mentioned on twitter earlier

News to me.
Feeding time, then homework time so I can come tomorrow hopefully.
Greenway to Castle Espie is quite nice too, they only do a cuppa there, but Comber probably has pubs. It does mean going on roads once you hit Comber, for about 3 miles.
-
• #236
I haven't heard much else about it. Ill keep you posted if I hear anything
I've never been out the greenway. I not sure but tea and coffee are also acceptable beverages. Could be wrong though
-
• #237
Comber town should have pubs I'd say? Else we can always pack some buckfast :p
-
• #238
Lovely! I've never heard of velo cafe magasin, who are they?
Excellent! the more the merrier!
I'm happy to go/stop anywhere! Tea is more than acceptable for me! I refuse to drink buckfast though! haha.
Haven't heard anything about that Friday ride either! Any ideas who's organizing it?
-
• #239
http://velocafemagasin.com/ rather nice chaps for all your cycling needs
The only thing worse than buckfast I've ever heard of was a 'buck Rodgers' buckfast and red bull shudder
I'm not sure what the story is with this thing I only heard on friday

1300 at the big fish?
Are we bringing 'refreshments' for a beach based stop before the return leg?
-
• #241
Another fine day out. Damn head wind
Looks like I can't make the 26th. Remembered I've a wedding to go to. Ill be at the next barbecue run though
-
• #242
An excellent ride out! Warmth, sprinting, hill climbs, descents, cyclocross and a stoney beach... what more could you ask for?
Haha after you telling us about it too!
-
• #243
Belfast fixed gear cyclocross hill climb downhill. It has a certain ring
I know. Constantly forgetting this wedding
-
• #244
No cake and cycle then as group name? :P
BBQ run still sounds good, with a bit more promotion we have more coming I'd say. If we plaster it over our FB walls etc.
Phoenix CC is very serious a cake/coffee chill cycle club may be just what Belfast needs.
-
• #245
Sounds like a plan. I'd say if we give people enough notice they'll be up for it
Feel free to change the date is suggested then I might be able to actually go
-

Was thinking if we have cards with hooks (the ones on hotel doors) advertising this, put it on a FB group we may grow the group. I see enough fixies/bikes of enthousiasts in town, may be a way to reach them.
If we can be bothered that is ;)
-
• #247
I'd say a FB page is the way to go. Suppose we'd need to settle on the details and see if there's any interest
-
• #248
make spoke cards
put them in locked up bikes :)
?????
PROFIT -
• #249
Wonder if spoke cards may be missed compared to stuff hanging from the handlebars? May work too.
Result, profit, BBQ. We need 1 or 2 people with sensible bikes to carry stuff lol I got a touring bike.

Advertising this shouldn't be a problem. Should be easy enough I think the problem lies in once you're on the promenade at holywood you're going to have a lot of bike and a lot of people trying to use the same path which could cause problems. I would say it would be quite busy if the weather is nice
With carrying stuff I think small bucket barbecues or disposable would be the best options. They should be easy enough to pack and carry
The single track at the end of the promenade could be a problem as well
Ha. True. We could always stop at the dirty duck then continue or just bring some refreshments
