I went to the Hackney Peddler at Hackney Downs Studios yesterday for the first time. (I couldn't make the launch event.) As they're now basically my local bike shop, I should declare an interest. But they (Dom and Alex) were lovely and they're building up a great shop there. They're aiming to ultimately have an open workshop and are very closely connected to this emerging studio community there. They're currently mainly doing repairs and selling restored older bikes, plus they also have a good relationship with Brother Cycles and are selling Brother frames. Bike obsessives were wandering in and out and great customer service was given to a guy who had a very difficult to untangle problem with his bike. Well worth a visit.
