The thing is that it's also very stiff and has all the traditional smoooothness and comfort of steel. I need more time to medidate on the exact cause behind this since there are probably too many factors, but it feels quite different from my 853 and Ti road bikes..

If you do elaborate on this at some point, I'll be very interested to read your thoughts. I wonder if part of what you describe is due to the relatively eased-out chainstay length, for instance.

I really like what you've done with the bike. Sounds as if you only need to make a couple of component swaps to get it dialled in, albeit after more wallet deployment.
