Brad is a good stage racer, look at the TT he put out at the end of the tour last year. And was then stronger than ever going into the olympics.
I thought this. Wiggins is a proper diesel. If he can avoid blowing up in the Giro I reckon he can keep his head down and train hard for 4 weeks and still be competitive, maybe even have an advantage in that he's not 'riding into form' in the first week of the Tour.
He could put valuable minutes into his rivals in that first week and still have a buffer if he fades in the last week of the Tour.
