  • i have a 70s hack fixed wheeler, dawes lightweight, 1980s dawes pro-am + raleigh shopper ,folder and unbuilt in the box mtb

  • 1) Dawes Super Galaxy
    2) Holdsworth mistral
    3) Dawes Super Galaxy tandem
    4)old rod-brake raleigh 3-speed

About to build up a bamboo bike as well :)

  • 1) 1932 loop frame Raleigh...turns every ride into a Tweed Ride
    2) Frankenstepthrough. Continually evolving bike based around a cheap 80s steel step through frame. Currently a FrankenRetroVelo with portuer rack, creme fat frank tyres, 8 speed alfine coaster brake and leather grips made out of an old jacket
    3) 2010 Gazelle Basic. Like riding an armchair, makes the 1932 Raleigh look nippy. About to be rehoused with my mum
    4) 1995 Raleigh Caprice with upgraded wheelset dynamo/drum front, 3 speed coaster rear. My first wheel build :)
    5) 60s Viking Mileeater, my only "sports" bike. Never gets ridden but too purdy to sell
    6) folding single speed 16" wheel bike for collecting hire cars and scooting to the corner shop. Between the low gearing, twitchy steering and tiny wheels it's not so much cycling as assisted walking

  • Me:

    1) Samson Track (sunny day bike, built as NJS as practical)
    2) F(ake) Moser faux-pro HHSB track w/ Zipp 3000
    3) Malvern Star badged Whitehorn ratty track (in the process of becoming a SS with MAP / Ahearne "Priest" bars)
    4) Cannondale Rack (daily rider / pub bike)
    5) Heuvelmans CX
    6) Shogun XOX (Bridgestone XO-1 copy, in pieces, probably going to sell the frame)

    Wife:
    1) Track bike (stickered as a Ti Raleigh, not a Ti Raleigh) with risers and front brake.
    2) Albini (?) steel road bike with 2011 Campagnolo Veloce.

  • Wardy - very jealous of the Super Galaxy and the Mistral. Do you really need both?

I only have two! I am emigrating in a couple of months so I have been cutting it down. This time last year I had eight...

    1. Gazelle Champion Mondial, built with a bizarre mix of Shimano 600-Ultegra and Shimano Deore XT. Low geared, Technomic stem, 28c Ruffy Tuffy tyres - comfortable road bike. Keeping this for a while as I am going on a little tour before I go, then selling it.

    2. Merlin Malt 1 - with riser stem and Mary bars, and bikepacking bags - comfortable cheap offroad tourer that I will be taking abroad with me.

    Parts in storage:

    1. Early 1980s (I think) F.W. Evans touring/audax frame - 64/57, 73/73 degrees, 531 throughout, mudguard and rack eyelets, Campagnolo dropouts... paint's a bit naff but I can sort that.
    2. Campagnolo Record steel headset for the above
    3. Nitto Technomic for the above
    4. Santé 36h hubset for the above

Girlfriend (or fiancée, I should say)

    1. 80s Raleigh Caprice. It was totally original when I bought it... the rear steel wheel rusted out and an errant driver took care of the front one, so I bought some alu-rimmed wheels for it, and the upgrade bandwagon got rolling - now only the frame, forks and BB are original - it has light modern alloy parts throughout and built as a singlespeed weighs about 12kg with rack, metal basket and mudguards, which is pretty good. A tough workhorse that she has used daily for nearly five years now, with nary a problem, but will have to be sold soon.
    2. 1992 Kona Fire Mountain, original, to be taken abroad.
  • 1) 2010 Dawes Galaxy
    2) 1973 Raleigh Rapide (converted to single speed)

  • Oh yeah... and the frames.
As I'm moving to Yorkshire countryside soon I might have to dip my toe in the singletrack world. Haven't done it since I was about 10 though.
Are stumpjumpers still awesome? Is it ridiculous to think about hardtail?
    On One?

  • I like my 456.

  • For 'proper' off road riding though or 'urban' riding?

  • Both, but I bought it for proper stuff, it was fun in Hebden bridge.

  • That might be perfect, moving to Otley so I guess fairly similar to Hebden Bridge.

  • (Thanks!)
