Hi, I'm new here. I'm thinking of building a fixed gear bike for myself. I have a 531 frame and looking for someone who could weld new track dropouts. Any information on this?
-
• #1255
Not sure about welding. As you may or may not know Tom Donhou (ex-resident Norwich frame builder extraordinaire) has moved to London, and I personally don't know of anyone else. That said, the guy that built Chris Boardman's Lotus frame might still be operating at Rackheath, but I've got no details for that. Others will possibly know more.
Also, if you've got sloping drop-outs you could just run it as a standard conversion - it works fine for tensioning etc, plenty of people on here do it, it just doesn't look as nice. Track ends on a 531 frame that wasn't designed for them probably won't make too much of a difference to clearances and what-not anyway, as the geometry will stay the same.

I was at Tom's this evening - its probably closer to Norwich than it is Clapham: I'm shattered. If you have horizontal drop-outs you're good to go. If you don't know what I mean then take a photo and post it here so someone can advise.

Anyone interested in a Chrome Metropolis messenger bag?, in camo colour scheme. Been used well but no issues at all, works fine. Great bag, carries shit loads. £40. Like this http://the-gadgeteer.com/assets/chrome-citizen1.jpg

TomasT: Like everyone else has said, if you have horizontal dropouts you're fine.
Have a read through this, it'll help. If you scroll down a bit theres some pictures of different dropouts which should help you identify what ones you have.

Possibly, it'd be without the Nittos (if only they were risers!)

Anyone have a silver/polished 27.2 seat post? Has to be pretty long
-
• #1271
No luck with K-Alloy? That chrome Bianchi has got a stuck seatpost by the way, so at the moment would have to be for someone just under 6ft.
-
• #1272
I was just seeing if anyone had one before I ordered one. That bianchi is proving to be a bit of an odd bike!

Thross98: at Bicycle Links do you ever get such a thing as alu road frames going cheap? for someone pint sized, ie a 49/50cm frame.
My neck and upper back has never really got on with the geometry on my Ribble and I'm looking for something I can swap all my components onto. I've been scouring fleabay all week but its surprisingly hard to find anything unless you are 5'10 at a minimum :-)

Really hankering for a road bike myself!
