I'm a 40 something fixed newbie - always had bikes but always "off the peg" road bikes - never changed a component in my life! Youngest son has started riding with Eastlands Velo so I've had a go on a the Dolans at the velodrome and become instantly hooked.......

I can see the future being interesting!

48:16 is about twice as big as a polo gear.

That would be a requirement - I only have a Cannondale Quick 1 at the moment......i will be posting a newbie post tomorrow - I've tried to find the info I need but I'm struggling - think it's because I don't understand the terminology used yet so I don't even know what I'm searching for!
