not new on here, but just wanted to say if you see someone on a lime green raleigh rapide with brown leather bar tape and converted to single speed then I'll probably be on it! I usually have a red mission workshop messenger bag on too. Do say hello!

Hello all! New here as a friend suggested it is a good trusted community to buy/sell bikes.
I am an Australian living in East London and ride a FELT FA with SRAM Force throughout... under 8kg full quipped!... my daily ride is a charge plug single speed... and I have a few other bikes lying about
Hope to get involved with a few weekend rides!

Hey there! I was introduced to the forum by a friend as I'm looking to pick up my first fixie. I live in Brighton and commute up to central London (W1). I ride a road bike down in Brighton (Trek 2.1) and looking to pick up a fixie for commuting between Victoria station and work.

Hello, I'm Chris from Manchester!
I've been reading the forums for a while and have decided to buy my very first single speed bike.
I have a budget of about £300 - £400 so am currently just weighing my options up. I think I'd like to build one but have zero experience in bike maintenance let alone building one. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks

Hi Chris.
Welcome.
All the information you'll need to build a bike from nothing is contained in these pages hidden between sarcastic comments from people who should know better. I've got six builds under my belt based on the knowledge I've gleaned. It can be done.
I think you've made a good choice (and most will agree) that if you're prepared to wait and take your time, you'll be able to source most (if not all) of the parts you'll need from the Classifieds and have a better bicycle than something off the peg.
Take photos and keep everyone updated, I look forward to seeing what you come up with! -

Hi Chris. Welcome to the forum.
Another useful resource for bike maintenance is www.madegood.org. Lots of free videos and guides.

Hello! Moving down to Hastings at the end of the month and will be commuting up to London. Planning to sort something out for some summer coastal rolls as well as pootling around town. Been looking around for something nice second-hand but no joy as yet - might have a crack at building.

Nice idea - see what you can do. The budget will need to be a bit higher than those go karting tops though. Let's get Rapha involved.

Did the some 250miles a few weeks back from Bristol > Wellow > Frome > Four Marks > London to gear up for a trip in Scotland, Inverness to Sheffield basically.
