please excuse the shit cellphone pics and any other indiscretions i make.
my newly built pompino. looks much like any other except with a twist: its got a modified 8 spd Nexus hub and (extortionately priced) j-tek shifter. why go to the hassle of putting gears on a track-spaced bike? curiosity with internal hubs started it, then I got all lusty over the sscx pomps i was seeing everywhere.
all the geared pomps i've seen have zip ties coming out of everywhere, so the challenge was to keep this looking as if it was single speed. I ended up using a v-brake noodle thing running under the bb, which works great.
The idea is for this to be my commuter as well as tourer, and down the track I plan to build a matching fixed/single speed rear to swap out when it takes my fancy.
i'll be getting guards and a rack for it soon, if you care to make any suggestions.
btw the silver rim/black spokes/gumwall idea is shamelessly ripped off the gunmetal grey pomp that gets posted every couple of pages here.
