I took some tentative steps towards the sordid world of off-road riding today. It was hard work, but also quite rewarding to see an area of Kent/surrey from a different perspective. I found some really pokey bridleways with fantastic views. It did get a bit 'horsey' at times but everything was remarkably civilised, even despite my being covered in mud from a hilarious spill where I nearly drowned in a large puddle and submerged two limbs in fetid farm mud. 45 miles including the slog home. My legs are a bit knackered...
