  • steel is real......

  • Concept build...
suicide levers, spinergy rev-x with carbon circlips, lambert fork, cannonfail or Vitus/Alan frame, ava stem, egg beater pedals etc

    Nope! This \/

suicide concept: any bike with Indra on it.

  • steel is real......

Agreed... I'd love one of these uber stiff steel nitto stems for my track bike... bit pricey though, plus I'd have to sand it down to 22mm diameter, easy on alloy, not so sure with steel!

  • steel is real...... ***Pics of Hetchins, coton tape wrap top to bottom style ***

    That's my style of wraping!

Velo Orange one is plenty stiff, steel is always stiffer than alu.

    Scoble in spouting-engineering-fallacies shocker.

Depends how much of each you're using and in what form.

  • Brake cable routing on the Hetchins look a little strange, why no behind handlebar?

    Scoble in spouting-engineering-fallacies shocker.

Nothing in that statement is inaccurate, steel is stiffer than alu.

  • It's also a meaningless statement Ed.

  • Have I ever written a meaningful statement?

  • It's not a suicide stem as far as I know.. it's one of these

Making me doubt it now though, I don't know its history...

I've done that when re-using bits of outter cable and not having enough lenght / shops closed on a sunday / wanting to finish a built with what I have at home (although it would not be the reason here) and it works OK in practice...

  • Fair enough, just irk me a tad like how a slanted Brooks does to you.

  • Velo Orange one is plenty stiff, steel is always stiffer than alu.

What's the funny little hole in the side for?

  • Bell.

^ this isn't what you said the first time round. You didn't say "always" this time.

  • My new project.
Take everything off this (due to the frame being knackered):

Just need to source some brakes and a seatpost, hopefully it'll be relatively painless. . .
I might just give up on bikes otherwise.

  • Dug roadbike out of hibernation, I've got some better tyres and some of that black Cinelli perforated tape with the colourful background to go on, and waiting on a new bolt for the seatpost as this one is rounded off so can't adjust saddle.

Also think I need a slightly shorter stem, I know, 10mm should be short enough... Maybe I should just stretch.

Cheers to Robadob for the straps, which complete my casual pedal setup. GR-9's are probably the most comfy road pedals I've tried so far.

Also getting some decals to replace to TD ones, wac, just deciding on font.

  • can anyone help, I have a really long steerer on a frame I am thinking of getting repaired- steerer length is 220mm 1in originally threaded but could do the threadless thing. What length fork steerer would I need?

  • For threadless possibly 290-300mm

Threaded would depend on your headset.

  • id love a donohue

    What size? PM me.

Massively good choice of frame there, sir.
Got a carbon seat post if you're after one.

  • How much?

  • I'll get back to you, probably ~£35 but I'll have to work it out.

  • Bit out me budget ;)

  • Wheelset arrived from VeloMine today. No rim tape.
No suggestion of "Wanna buy some rim tape for that wheelset you've just added to your basket?" or "This wheelset has no rim tape. Rim tape is extra. Click on this link to go to the Rim Tape section. The suggested rim tape for your TB14s is xxx-xx."
    Opportunity missed.
