  • I'm far from fit! But I am less than half that age I'm afraid!

  • I could be up for this. Depending on date and time

  • I know a few more people into cycling in Belfast via the Velo Jaunts, if you can find a date/time can spread the word. As long as it's unofficial eg "we know some people and go for a cycle" as official events need to be reported to the parades commission and need insurance.

Weekend for me please due to work, and wee man. There's a Jordanstown path that's safe for kids (leaving from Big Fish near albertclock) if you want to go family. Return to pub after. Sundays/Saturday nights I'm all free.

  • If its a longer run weekend is probably best. If its just a quick spin I'm free after work most days

  • And hello jwestland its ray here

  • Ach hello :):)

Did you find a frame in the end? Was a Condor on gumtree for £30 badly listed and in Banbridge but cheap as chips sometimes things do show up.

  • Goededag

No. Still haven't found anything in my size. There were a few maybes but ended up too big. The hunt continues

It would be good to get out for a spin. I haven't seen anyone since the last jaunt

  • The organiser busy with other stuff turns out the Jaunt was a lot of work, insurance, parades commission, the work.

Combination with pub anyone? After the ride of course else it won't end well lol.

  • I would say it was a nightmare to organise
    Always good fun though

  • I like that this is taking off. Nothing official! just a wee friendly spin and a few in a pub after sounds perfect to me. As for dates I personally am very flexible! Hopefully might have a beater bike built in time too!

  • Got a 55.5 top tube tourer I can sling a longer stem on if somebody is stuck Only problem then is 38 wide bars as it's one of my bikes ;)

  • Will this be fg/ss only?

I know a few people who have those funny geared bikes that might be interested

  • Geared bikes? I think I saw one of them as I overtook a lot of people the other day.. not sure I liked it!

I have nothing against geared bicycles or any bicycles joining.. so long as it doesn't turn into a lycra-clad road race with three people on SS bikes at the back haha!

  • we're safe on the lycra front. i'll say to a few people and see who's interested

so are we going to arrange this for a saturday then? seems like the best day with people being off work and stuff

  • Glad to hear it haha!

This saturday is perfect for me. What times/distances/vague route are we thinking?

  • I can't do this Saturday but any others count me in

As for the rest. I'm easy. There's the cycle path towards jordanstown or Lisburn or out towards holywood. I think early afternoon city centre for meeting up

  • Haha! No problem, yeh I live very near Jordanstown and know that cycle path well.

  • Apart from the industrial estate it's a nice run

We could always plan a route around belfast

  • The winds off cars on the motorway and coming off the lough upset it a wee bit too hah! Ill cycle anywhere though. I tend to be out and about most weekends and some evenings so some company is always welcome. I also have a friend opening a cafe in Holywood, and when its open I am hoping to frequent it on Sunday mornings.

  • Sunday breakfast ride? Could be good

There's was a ride to holywood, stop for refreshments at the dirty duck and back to town planned before Christmas that fell through. How does that sound?

  • sorry to bumrush this...

we're still doing our wednesday evening ride. 1800 from the custom house. little or no lycra, any combination of gears. boojum (usually) afterwards. reasonably welcoming. don't let the beards put you off.

  • Stranger I've always meant to go but couldn't make Wednesdays. I've cant make tomorrow but ill definately try to make next week

  • Wheel or no wheel that sounds perfect.
Stranger this sounds good, I'm not sure I will be free tomorrow but shall try! What sort of distance do you cover? Are there many attend? I'm mildly covered in facial hair so that shouldn't cause an issue!

  • Excellent. We can use that route, choose a date a time and see who shows up

  • usually 10-15 miles through the winter increasing as the weather gets better. pretty leisurely. beards aren't compulsory. i really can't emphasise that enough.
