Also have an unwanted front one, maybe the hole is in the right place?

Rear guard innit?

Mate. I'm not daft.
:-)
Definitely rear guard.
Hole was under the clip on brake bridge thingy.just use a bit of insulating tape, or a piece of reflective stuff from here

Damn. Rear chrome Gilles Berthoud split in two places. Time for replacement.
Think i'm going to go chromoplastic (or whatever it's called) for the commuter. Still really got a hankering for white plastic with a round rear reflector and mudflaps but will see what turns up.

PDW have a great looking mudguard called the Full Metal Fenders at a very reasonable 454g
Look like a 21st Century version of the Salmon, especially when it look like it got enough to cover the side as well as being long enough to keep your feet/chainset dry.
Review suggested that you can fit a low volume 25c on it despite advertised as a 23c mudguards.

What's the general consensus on Chromoplastics vs. Bluemels?
-
• #664
I swapped my forks for some WoundUp which don't have mudguards eyelets and I'd rather avoid P clips if I could. I've seen the Velo Orange mounts which are OK, any other alternatives?

Has anyone tried the blb mudguards - they look pretty cool and think am going to get some
-
• #666
Look the same as the one in Condor, just a generic average mudguard that'll just about keep you dry.
Get a proper one like SKS for a lots less.

Cheers - I'm specifically on about their "classic alloy fender" on their shop website

What size?
Fits for tire from 700C x 2,00 to 2,35 inches
So that's about 50mm to 60mm, right?
I'm confused.
-
• #670
If it's 40mm, the max clearance is likely to be 28mm.
-
• #671
they are the 40mm ones, so max about 28mm yeah
-
• #672
Just read somewhere else, the 40mm ones are for max 25mm tyres. perfect for mine as im running 23c.

I would rotate that rear fender so that you can attach it to the strut behind the BB, whether it's drilled or use a clamp around the bar. Up top, a simple "L" bracket hung off the brake bolt makes a much more stable and rattle free attachment.

That's what I was going to do but it won't fit in there, guard is too wide. And actually that brake bracket fits super tight as you bend the little fingers round the inner arch, it's solid, won't move and doesn't rattle. It's completely silent now, no rattles at all! Arches are very good quality, I would recommend them!
Mate. I'm not daft.

Definitely rear guard.
