I'm goin to start a current projects on mine soon.... But I've already run into a couple of problems. It was run with hub gears, I think, and has no gear hanger, and a silly braze on that is back to front for my needs..... It will need some creative bodging, I think. Pics later... I'm off to get some longer gear cable outer!

Just bought King of Mercia touring frame, very similar to dbk's . it's a 1983. 23.5in. Complete with stronglight A9 headset. Paintwork in V good nick, white head tube though, chrome perfect.
Now to decide what to put on it?Always liked Mercian's had 2 in the 60's but not since. Great bikes. Looking forward to riding it.
Will post pictures when I can.

Very nice.
From experience, carefully file away that extra paint from inside the seat tube otherwise you have no hope of getting you seat post in.

I had my eye on that beauty. Can't wait to see it built.
I'm hoping to buy a Mercian soon as my dream project. I'd love to have one custom made one day but for now I'm happy to buy pre-loved. -

Amazing. I think I bought this one of any american chap from the forum.
I did up for a friend. I'll try and get a picture of it as it is now. This was mine, a 1963 Superlight I bought on here from Sumo a couple of years ago but sold recently to help fund something else. I loved the orange/chrome combination on this one. Still do.

The reason I sent it back in the first place was due to a stuck seatpost so thanks for the tip!

Greetings Mercianistas! There's a Mercian tandem in 531 up for sale in Cycling Weekly for a mere £400, in N Yorks. It looks fine to me, but threatened divorce prevented purchase...... Tel 01947 840462
In your dreams!
