Ref Mo Coppoletta at The Other Art Fair (26 - 28 April) London
Mo Coppoletta has designed four designs unique for TOAF which he will be inking live on select visitors at the fair - anyone looking to jump his 2 year celebrity waiting list simply needs to email why they want a tattoo to iwantatattoo@theotherartfair.com
Does Mo really have a two-year waiting list? When he started my sleeve he was advertising three-hour sessions for small pieces at a few weeks' notice. I just booked one and persuaded him to keep re-booking me, every couple of weeks. When I had four or five sessions with Dom Holmes at Family Business a year and a half ago, she was sharing the back room with Mo and Steve Vinall, and Mo was seeing walk-ins. Then again, I booked Val Vargas at Frith Street at less than a week's notice a while ago.
Have things really changed that much? It seems it suits artists to cultivate myth around waiting lists, it doesn't harm the people they tattoo either, if they want that sense of exclusivity.
