The sick thing is I don't have any patience, if I'd have just left the seatpost alone and not trying to bash the crap out of it or attack it with chemicals in the right hands it would have been easier/less costly all round.
30 years of fannying around with bikes from a teen and I still make dumb decisions...still I've rescued a few as well over the years :o)
