  • Traditionally LPC has broadly promoted the Sapim Strong spokes which are 2mm, butted to 2.3mm at the shoulder and threads. Todd has been using DT Swiss 2mm unbutted spokes on his new bike, breaking one for the first time on Saturday.

I'll be using Sapim Leader on my new wheels which are 2mm unbutted/plain gauge as they are easier to find, cheaper and lighter than Sapim Strong; I don't mind replacing spokes and truing my wheels a little.

But if you're riding a 36h wheel, as opposed to 48h, I'd consider Sapim Strong as impacts are less likely to be spread across multiple spokes. Couple that with Green Bike Man's inability to true wheels and it's almost a no-brainer.
