I feel like this has been pretty well covered, but I just wanted to say that, as a rule of thumb, if you are going to make a broad generalization about broads, change the word woman/girl/lady for black and see if you think you could get away with saying it without sounding racist.
If someone had said to you "I don't mean to be racist, but I wouldn't let a black guy touch my bike" I'm pretty sure you would have known it was racist.
Sexism works the same way. It is very important in fields where it is very difficult to work as a woman not to propgate myths that it is because it is not a job that they can do. We can, and I'm saying this as a woman that has been in the cycling industry for over ten years but can not seem to make any male customers take me seriously.
It's a little grating. So hopefully lesson learned, and you can start to look at women as people just that little bit more because of it.

They use to do it so well in the past, now they split it up with two different coloured legos set for each sexes;

Whoa! What a terribly sexist comment to make.
Women can make great mechanics!

Now, far be it from me to cast judgement but does she really need goggles on to use a tire wrench? And why has she drawn whiskers on her face with grease?

is where it all comes fromI dont really want to continue this derail from Eds nice bike. But the conditioning of kids really annoys me. Stereotyping what we should do, and how we should act is an adult disease. Why try so hard to infect your kids so early?

and anyway, as Ed would say:
you lot can troll my Randonneur thread as much as you can, because it will still be ridden before Iain's fixed wheel super light not safe bicycle

If she doesn't turn in to a fucked up adult I don't know who will.
I raced last weekend and saw quite a lot of 15/16 year olds on £6k+ road bikes, how on earth are they going to turn in to well-rounded adults???

well-rounded adults as determined by who?

My 3 year old boy has a thing for pink.
I like to think his empathy for the fairer sex will get him laid alot when hes older.
......or maybe he'll keep wearing the disney princess outfits.

The only cycling clubs I have seen are like this. Teenagers on very fancy bikes. Seems to be a lot of snobbery around these clubs, (particularly the one based at Birmingham most snooty bike shop) Like velo hipsters, its all about gear and looking pro. Even if you could ride fast, they would never let you ride with them unless you had a £6k bike and were dressed head to toe in the latest Lycra Garmz. Even then they would be suspicious until you proved you were one of them. I terms of the youngsters, they are clearly joining the same "elite" group their dad feels part of.

^^ They sound like dicks. My club loves a bit of shabby chic (so long as you can keep up).

Aside from English, I only have knowledge of Swedish curse words, which are nearly exclusively about the devil, hell, and being damned.
Recent research suggests that current Swedish curse words are exclusively about mishaps occuring when assembling flat pack furniture.
I think there are three universal topic areas for swearing: religion, defecation and sex.
Source? Wiki-fucking-pedia.
Thanks for the explanation about randonneurs vs. tourers back on the last page Ed :)
