Drivers honked at me for not being in a bicycle lane (and I think he was doing a punishment pass), later between Balham and Tooting Bec, he asked why I wasn't on it (while moving), I explained that it wasn't safe for me as there was not enough error room, he understood (+body language), and drove on.
Really great to have someone who actually understood rather than shouting at me, made my week even.
