  • Long time lurker, can i play?

  • Does any1 know where I can get a spare clincher gum wall 650c 23?? Can't find any anywhere..

  • Reminds me, can any one link me to a light weight 650c clincher tyre and light 650c tube? i got a Gator and standard tube at the moment, thinking of lightening up the tyres n tubes.

Want to turn my Orbit into something i could do time trials with or just ride fast on Sunday morning

  • Conti GP4000 & GP Supersonic and Vittoria Open Corsa CX (the old 290tpi one) are all available in 650c.

  • Thanks, might go for the Conti GP4000, didn't realize you could get the supersonic in 650c. i guess i should go for 23c rear to?

its fixed so i want to match it with a rear tyre that wont get shredded to quick.

  • turn my Orbit into something i could do time trials with

650c aint legal no more bro

  • Local club run time trials, i think they may let me ride it, spose' i should find out first!

same club that let me tag along on a brakeless Dolan on the roadie ride

  • Ignore B0N0R, 650C is fine for any TT under CTT regulation, it's just UCI that prohibits different sized wheels

  • Yeah i figured it would be something like that, from the flickr pics every one is riding modern geared TT bikes though, should be amusing.

maybe i could find a deep V front wheel? for the aero' probably pretty rare though...

  • also thinking, as its a conversion i could drop the rear cog from 47:17t, to 15t or 14t and take a link out the chain, should be in the same spot without needing a half link.

  • For TT's you'll probably want an even bigger gear, however that\s just going on what I've heard.

  • Fixed and small front wheel in a relatively recent TT:

  • also thinking, as its a conversion i could drop the rear cog from 47:17t, to 15t or 14t and take a link out the chain, should be in the same spot without needing a half link.

You need to change the tooth count by 4 to equate to a whole link pair taken out of the chain, e.g. to 47/13. I'd want a gear like that to do between 24:30 and 25:00, that's for an average cadence in the high 80s.

  • Quite sure if you go up or down by 3teeth you can take a link out? any way it doesn't matter, i'll sort that at a later date

never done a TT before so i don't want to be pushing some silly gear i can't handle.

Wont be for a while yet anyway, future plans.
