  • Yowsah. You will all be thrilled to know i'm pretty much a wizard on Garageband already. That's right . Had a couple of days off sick this week and spent them sneezing and recording. Going to keep tracking in GB for the moment (got the band coming over to add upright bass, accordion and vocals next week) but am going to get Logic Pro 9 after payday. Apparently GB projects open up in it which is pretty much awesome as there's no disincentive to keep on going in the meantime. To say I'm enjoying finally being self sufficient after all these years is an understatement... I'm fucking buzzing.

Haven't tried looping live drums yet but it's on my do to list. Will start sneaking drums into the house this weekend. "oh it's just the kick drum" etc. For all my old "demos" pre DAW i've had tons of use out of this little wonder:

Which contains thousands of awful 90s syn-drum sounding shit BUT crucially as it's a Boss/Korg/Roland thing it's got two great 808 and 909 "kits" which i've used for everything. I actually got reasonably adept at programming four of five different parts into it and switching between them while recording the output like a live performance. Hours of fun. I'm kind of tempted to carry on using it although I expect that may be unnecessarily anachronistic now i've access to 808 plug ins... after all this isn't a "real" 808.
