  • Jedi wisdom eh Edward?

  • Nah, fuck him as a staff, record label and as a motherfucking crew!

  • skrtluv?

  • "Yeah bad form that."

Bad form, I'll second that. Needless a prospective buyers are free to change their mind, but they could and should have told you straight away. Still you sold the bike anyway, so don't let one bad experience hunt you too the grave. Happy days!

  • Does anyone have any regular contact with Cubism. I paid for a set of forks nearly 2 weeks ago (from this thread https://www.lfgss.com/thread102456.html and I've received and heard nothing since, despite many messages. If anyone could give him nudge and tell him to pull his finger out it, would be much appreciated.

  • Anyone know of Roymund's whereabouts? I bought this Turbo Trainer off him:

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread102317.html

Unboxed it and the resitance lever 1) doesn't work and 2) is completely snapped so won't clamp onto my handlebars

He said he'd refund me the £50 but seems to have dissapeared since. Any help would be great

  • Sorry this probably isn't the right place to ask this but in lack of a better thread; anyone on here know a Daniel Stuth, located in London? Him or someone imposing as him contacted me after seeing my WTB add here or on pedalroom and I ended up buying a Paul Donohue frameset (http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/paul-donohue-853-track-frame-fixed-gear-black-vvgc-with-njs-headset/1012522296), along with cranks and stem off of him.

Story - it's been 12 working days and I haven't received anything, longest I've waited for a package from the UK has been 5 days. He didn't seem sketchy at all (wrote in good english, provided me extra pictures of everything I asked) and answered my emails quickly at first but after the payment it's been a bit quiet. He won't answer what it was shipped through, but if it were shipped through Royal Mail by land (that might the cheapest option?), is there a chance the package might still arrive? At this point I'm thinking I'll give him a week more and then file a dispute via paypal. Any help is appreciated.

Here's his other ads on gumtree: http://www.gumtree.com/sellerads/1012522296

E: all the other ads disappeared after me posting this thread, still no answer to my email. I'm calling bullshit.

  • 12 working days is quite long.
    got a tracking number?

  • I've had two parcels delivered in Finland from the UK in that time span via Royal mail.

Both orders were made after your frame was supposedly posted so I have a pretty strong feeling that you're being scammed...

  • No tracing #, just said that he insured the package for £400 and "don't worry". And sorry, the name was Daniel, not Michael.

  • being in this situation myself before (from a seller side), allow couple of days and then act.. but on the other hand best idea would be to open a dispute already though, just to have your ass covered.

  • I'd go with 1000aa and open the dispute and close it when you have the frame set.

  • The fact that three ads of his disappeared after I posted for the first time here, and that he still hasn't replied to my email (it's been three days) has me pretty sketched out. If he is legit, wouldn't the guy at least reply to my emails?

    Jesus fucking christ.

  • well let him know that you will open a dispute, that should motivate him

  • and do not close it before you have either the frame or the money!

    you can't open it twice.

  • You didn't pay via PayPal gift did you?

  • Nope.

Sent him an email and if he doesn't respond, I'm opening a dispute on monday.

  • Wanted a little bit of advice...

So I bought a saddle off a guy off here, he says he posts it and it never arrives. It's been about 2 weeks at least now. He says he still has the receipts so it'll be fine to chase it up with the post office.

He then says that he actually didn't order recorded delivery as he had thought and that he doesn't see what else he can do.

I ask for a refund as the onus is on him to get the item to me, he should've posted it recorded. How do I know he just hasn't posted it?

    Still waiting on a reply.

Some advice on how to carry this forward would be really useful cheers.

  • How did you pay?

  • Out him as a bad trader if he refuses to refund you. The onus is always on the sender to ensure the goods arrive to the destination. He has the choice to insure the goods, not you.
If he chose not to, that is his problem, not yours, you had no choice here, therefore you are innocent and he should refund you.

  • While it's 100% true that its his job to make sure goods get to you safely and refund if not..

.. recorded shouldn't matter (except for the more expensive saddles). With a proof of postage (his "receipt") RM covers all post levels (1st/2nd/parcels) with insurance. I'm not sure of the levels for each one and I think sometimes you get paid in stamps if you can't prove value, but there is insurance.*

So basically if he doesn't refund you one way or the other

*check this before sending angry emails

  • Thanks a lot for the advice, I paid via paypal gift. I'll contact him again and link him to this thread. If I don't receive a reply I'll out him as a bad trader.

    Thanks a lot all,

    Laurence

  • Bugger.

PayPal gift shouldn't be used to buy stuff.

If the seller insists on it, just do normal paypal and pay their fee.

But it's part of the rules now that you shouldn't ask for gift.

  • There's a good traders list. If I trade with RdC or colnago_costa I will PP gift any day. I used to trade MTG back in the days and references played a big role then. Not too sure? Just get it recorded then.

Agree - there are always going to be great traders who you always trust. I'd use a bank transfer if that was the case.

Unless I'm missing something, using PayPal gift means

    a) the buyer pays PayPal's fees, and
    b) loses all rights to dispute resolution

If the seller is going to require you to pay PayPal's fees, just do a normal payment, and pay their fee. At least then you aren't paying PayPal's fees for nothing.
