These complaints of too many cyclists is a great problem to have.

^was thinking that this morning on CS7 itself. Yes, they might all be wobbling about everywhere and undertaking each other and crashing into each other every so often, but it's nicer than if they were all in cars. Now all we need is to confine vehicles to a network of "traffic lanes", far out of my way, and turn the roads over to cyclists permanently

So... Is it time to call out bad cyclists?
Damn right it is... I can actually deal with insane right cunt totally unpredictable motorist, but fellow cyclists is a whole different ballgame. In my experience a vast majority of the cyclist I see riding every day shouldn't even be allowed out, let alone ride the streets.

Got called out by a pedestrian today for failing to give way to him.
Was coming to the end of Saville row(riding in the middle) going to turn left onto Vigo st. Pedestrian on the right(walking in the road along parked cars) looks straight at me then steps out anyway. As I was moving away from him another pedestrian steps out from behind a van to my left, we see each other in time to not crash but stop right next to each other. I choose to ignore this and carry on but he grabs me by the arm and points to the give way markings at the end of saville row, and tells me I should have given way to him.
Did I do something wrong? -

i'm no highway code boffin or anything but they aren't cars are they? since when do pedestrians have right of way when crossing a road at a non designated spot. wac. the only thing you did wrong was not saying so at the time, unless u did but failed to include it in the #coolstorybro :)

Apparently as soon as a ped steps on the road they have right of way. My driving instructor told me this 15 years ago. I still remember it because it's silly.
However, as soon as a ped grabs your arm all bets are then off and you may duff them up.

Reading the CS7 stories above makes me wonder if the cabbies were right all along and all cyclists actually are cunts.
-
• #6734
Also you could have kidney punched™ him, preferably hard, and shit in his shoes before getting on your way.
-
• #6735
thats a well stupid rule... my driving instructor may have told me but i clearly wasnt listening. think i'll choose to ignore i've read it above also.
-
• #6736
It wasn't aggressive. He was painfully smug, smiled the whole time and said something like "I'm a cyclist, I know my rules" then just walked off. The whole thing was rather confusing:/
Next time must remember kidneys first! thinking later! And shit...

Always end with a shit.

Public places are where the vast majority of people have to go.

This means that they should have an awareness of the people around them and not be so selfish.
Want to go to a shop? Look at the traffic. Be it pedestrian, cyclist, taxi or whatever you don't just decide that you want to go somewhere regardless of what everyone else's doing. I keep finding myself checking over my shoulders when I'm walking down busy streets so that when I change direction I'm not cutting someone else off. Cunts who insist of walking in a big group and refusing to split to make i easier for everyone else deserve a slap. Just like all the people who walk two abreast in the centre of a canal towpath. It doesn't hurt to allow other people to go on their way unhindered.

Peds have priority on the road over cyclist/cars etc
Remember that if another human steps into the road in front of your bike, and don't call him/her a cunt

Take extra care at junctions. You should
watch out for pedestrians crossing a road into which you are turning. If they have started to cross they have priority, so give way
and regarding this:-
Peds have priority on the road over cyclist/cars etc
Remember that if another human steps into the road in front of your bike, and don't call him/her a cunt
only if you are entering a turning, any moron who thinks it's ok to just walk out in front of moving traffic definitely deserves to be called a cunt. [ref: tooting high street, every fucking time.]

not sure if there are definitive cases etc but shurely the peds have right of way rule doesn't apply when people "start to cross" in such a fashion as you'd have to emergency stop (whether in car or on bike) to let them pass?
or those roads where anyone intending to cross stands 1m out from the kerb anyway? whitechapel high rd for good example

The 'pedestrians have right of way' rule goes alongside the 'pedestrians shouldn't shamble mindlessly out into the road in front of moving traffic' rule and is intended to apply to pedestrians who can manage the complexities of the Green Cross Code. Many of the pedestrians round here obviously find the Green Cross Code too intellectually demanding, however.
Like the old fart who, while shambling down the middle of the road the other day, shouted at me that I should 'buy a horn'. Apparently that way I wouldn't surprise him by cycling along the road, as he wandered down it.

I thought that if a pedestrian intended to step into the road and start shambling around aimlessly they should signal said intention by sticking a mobile phone to their ear and telling a friend that they were on their way.

I keep finding myself checking over my shoulders when I'm walking down busy streets so that when I change direction I'm not cutting someone else off.
Me too... I daydream of creating a pamphlet on how to walk around properly and generally exist in a world with other people in it.
How about when people come out of a doorway onto a busy pavement without checking? That's a great one. Or when you're following someone out of a doorway and they stop right there to have a think about what's next, oblivious to the hoarde of people behind them.
Another thread I guess.

Or a large group of people walk through a doorway and decide that the exit of the doorway is the perfect place to wait for their brains to reboot while they stand there, slack-jawed and dribbling.
Yeah, maybe a general ranty fucktards thread is required...

or stand still at the top of an escalator
The non-day-glow riders are just as tenacious.
