Went for a ride today to try out my recently acquired Garmin 705, which I got second hand from here. It's everything I hoped it would be, which is fantastic. I'm so excited about no more printing off maps and sellotaping route sheets to my stem. The only preparation needed for this ride was saving a route on the Garmin and baking some flapjacks (apricot and pumpkin seed, also awesome).
It was also the first time I've ridden anything further than just commutes and around town since winter set in, so I got my road bike out of hibernation. I've gotten even weaker and slower, and forgotten how to use gears, but it was a lot of fun.
Did 50 miles in the end, around Surrey and Sussex, which was more than enough for me especially with it being cold and windy, although it was sunny for the second half at least. Ended up in Hassocks, not getting quite as far as Brighton, which I'd intended, but I'm still pleased at how things are going.
Saw some ostriches too.
Looking forward to lots more of the same this year.
