    There are various idiotic traditions in cycling and elsewhere.

    There was a sad part in the Milan - San Remo documentary that was posted here a couple of weeks ago, in which one of the podium girls (for Giro, I think), who was an excellent athlete in her own right, talked about the difficulty of being a female professional cyclist.

    Now, I'm sure that there are lots of individuals who wouldn't mind doing what the podium girls do (I wouldn't), but surely it is pretty damn archaic to think that you can only do the job if you are a young female of a particular shape and size.
