Obviously 80 miles is quite a way anyway, but presumably all the way from Hammsersmith to Peasmarsh is going to be a mighty slow journey, no? Can you have a quick pace along the river/canal in the middle of summer when it's full of families?
This is in no way meant to be a downer, just a question. I will more than likely be along for the ride :-)

This is a full day of cycling and we will be leaving around 9 to avoid all the weekenders.
I have put 'quick but social' to dissuade anyone who is liable to start crying after 20KMs of bumpy path.
Pace will be dictated by conditions but after Guildford there are long, wide sections on which you won't see other people for miles.

nice idea, I'm away that weekend but might steal your route for a spring ride (if spring ever gets here..)

why gloves john ?
First time I did it the vibrations got to my hands after half way and I wish I'd worn a pair.
Good grips/tape would also work. -

Sounds like a good warmup for the dun run, might go on cyclocross or are no gears allowed lol.

Doesn't matter what type of bike as we will all be going my speed.

The beauty of this ride is having over 100KMs of riding without having to look over your shoulder, or merge with busy traffic, or worry about being hit by a car..

I honestly don't know.
If you have booked a pet grooming session that afternoon or have some Aerosmith tickets, I would make other arrangements.

Rode 15 miles between Northampton and Market Harborough on an old railway and it was like the surface of the tuppin' moon. Lot of fun, though.

It's not that bad though, I assure you.
Meeting Hammersmith Bridge at 09:00 Sunday - Leaving sharp - Be ready to ride!
Check your bike, body and brain before coming on this ride - will be a long day and we can't hang around.
Sweet, easy, scenic, no-hills cruise to Brighton.
An unusual way to the coast, will be a great day out!
Using:
River paths
Old railway tracks
130KMs
Mostly impacted rock pavement, it can be bumpy and dusty in places.
You'll need:
28c tyres or greater
Good gloves
Might be a long day in the saddle - Quick but social pace - No crybabies
