  • In the new system I'm seriously thinking of making neg rep cost the person giving it 10x. That is... If a neg rep adds up to 10, then 100 rep points would be deducted from your rep. Seems fairer than having multipliers and would discourage neg rep... Is the equivalent of breaking your knuckles whenever you punch someone lightly.

How about a sliding scale, every neg costs you rep equal to the number if neg reps that came before, resets every year?

So first neg costs nothing, 2nd costs 1, 3rd costs 2, etc.

I really like the sound of a combination of these two ideas.

    first neg costs 0*deducted rep
    second neg costs 1*deducted rep
    third neg costs 2*deducted rep
    etc.

A small punishment for giving neg rep, that gets higher and higher as it goes on.

And that count decreases maybe once per month, so if you've given 3 negs during the past month, it would take 3 months of no negs to get back down to giving the free one again.

But that may all be overly complex for what it's wanted for...

I also like the idea of showing "total rep" and "this microcosm rep" allowing for better management of sale rep etc.
