Had to replace my enjoyable weekend ride into the wilderness with a weekend commute. 20mi each way with a rucksack on my back is not fun.

Knee pain has scuppered my plans. Itching to get out there today, woke in time for a club run but the pain emanating from the joint tells me to rest up and ice it.
Kudos to those who braved it yesterday.

Two fingers on my left hand are still tingling and slightly numb after my miserable day out yesterday. Will write up my when at my desk computer. What a terrible day out

March's 100km ride was supposed to be a casual ride over to recce the course for next weeks road race, but it turned into an epic battle of 3 men against the elements (#rapha).
The 25 miles out to the course were nice, pleasant weather and some rolling hills. Got to the course for a few laps, at which point it started to rain. And then it started to snow. None of us had anticipated snow so were pretty unprepared for the weather conditions. Ended up being a pretty miserable ride home, lost feeling in pretty much every part of my body and was struggling to brake by the end.
On the plus side my legs felt good the whole way and 48x17 was an excellent gear choice

so who went out for a ride today?

Went out for a nice relaxing 20 miles. Dressed completely inappropriately with a windbreaker, walking trousers and no overshoes. Started off just spitting rain then on way back saw the big dark shower coming towards me and got soaked. Could feel the water squishing when clenched my toes. Really enjoyed myself though. I have also realised no need to put salt in my bottle anymore as plenty gets sprayed onto the mouth piece.

Did three hours in Essex. It was horrid.

I decided to go for a run instead. It was only marginally better than horrid.

Did the Kent Invicta Grimpeur, well half of it. I thoroughly enjoy days like today. But then I bailed on the reverse loop and the ride back to London, so only 100km and not 200km. Chapeau to those who did.

Living in the Cambridge flatlands is great for riding ficksed, but after a weekend visiting the wife's sister in Staffordshire I think I may be doing it wrong.
Even with soaking wet feet and snow on the hills nothing beats a sharp 25% climb followed by a wide, clear 20% descent.
It was only a 35 mile route, but I went back and did it twice.
If you're ever over near Leek hunt out the Manifold Valley. I'm going back as soon as spring properly arrives.

Original plan was to head over to Sevenoaks for some north downs action. Instead headed north to Cuffley / North Haw for a quick spin. i coped better than this device, not sure if it was the weather but the data is WAC. Followed by a well earnt Dirtyburger with crinkle chips (highgate road), then on to LMNH with the usual suspects to watch MSR. Who ever made the Guinness muffins for today's drop, I love you lots... Headed out into the rain, originally intending on doing laps of Richmond Park but my rear light decided that rainwater was it's Hemlock, so I performed an Admiral West and headed to Regents Park instead and stretched my legs there- on my (theoretical, actually the only one I got a red on) fast lap I also saw Zebra and a Giraffe, which was nice.
Wanted to grab a coffee and a fresh rear light from LMNH, but was turned away at the door due to it being rammo'd.

Nothing that exciting to report, other than I'm back on a bike:
I did 80 miles on my own on the tank bike with about 3000ft of climbing. First ride in 2 weeks, leaving an awful lot of my sinusitis in the gutters of Hertfordshire, apart from the luminous piece of nose mozarella that I found which had probably been flapping from my helmet strap for about 20 miles. Attractive.
My knees feel back to normal (maybe the illness has been a blessing in disguise), my sprained wrist is luckily not aggravated by any of the forces experienced on a bike, and I managed to ride within myself, using the onset of infected wheezing as a signal to back off.
Lanes were in a state, flooding not too bad though. Touring tyres just trudged through the debris. More horseriders than cyclist today. The wind and rain increased for the headwind return leg, and I was glad to catch my train at 11.15am from Chingford. Worked out well, as Faith had asked me to do my best to arrive not-too-long after our lunch guests, and they were just about to ring the buzzer when I rolled up.
Feel OK really. I must be on the mend. Finally. Countdown to fast bike...

Not exactly the weekend, but good enough - ride back to my parents' place in northamptonshire on friday. Had a great time. All the info here if you're interested: http://www.lfgss.com/thread101956.html
Chapeau to anyone who went out yesterday

Went out for 120 miles of hard climbing training. One of two things happened. The training has really started to pay off, in which case I need to get my World Championship entry posted off as soon as possible...or my powermeter has gone on the blink :(
-
• #4947
If you set the zero-offset wrong you might be able to re-enter a more appropriate value and recover the training data.
-
• #4948
Or, if that's accurate, could we compare training notes?

I'm calling shenanigans on that.

If that's accurate you don't need to compare notes you need to buy a horse and fit your meter to that.
Yeah that. Or on the rivit and his talent ran out.
Happens to us all. Racing be racing.
